Monitoring the health of your pet is crucial, as they may not exhibit visible signs of illness.
Just a small sample of your furry family member’s blood can give us a wealth of information about their overall wellbeing. It can help us detect any underlying health issues they may have, as well as provide us baseline information about them that is useful now and in the years to come. Give us a call to learn more about our bloodwork services.
Your pet may experience various symptoms that require a blood test to diagnose. Some of these symptoms include:
We ask that pets fast for 8 hours before having bloodwork done to ensure the results aren’t affected. Some foods, particularly fatty ones, can enter the bloodstream which means your pet will need to come back for retesting. Sometimes a veterinarian may perform an unplanned blood test and may still get a good blood sample.
The process works very similarly to that of humans. A veterinarian or a technician inserts a small needle into the vein on your pet’s leg or neck. Your pet only feels a pinch and it’s over within seconds. The sample will be sent to our lab for prompt results. To schedule an appointment for your pet, call 519-971-3100.
